- Spot the drips early – A damp patch or small drip could be the start of a major hose failure. Regular visual checks help you find leaks early, preventing bigger problems and saving costly downtime
- Tighten loose fittings – A slightly loose fitting can cause leaks and slippery hazards. Tightening fittings to the right level (not overtightened) can stop minor leaks in their tracks and improve safety
- Look for signs of wear – Cuts, cracks, bulges, or stiffness in the hose cover are early warning signs of trouble. Replace damaged hoses before they burst to avoid equipment damage.

- Stick to a maintenance schedule – Set routine checks based on how often you use your gear. Regular inspections catch wear before it becomes a costly breakdown
- Prevent abrasion – Route hoses away from sharp edges or moving parts. Use hose guards or clamps to stop rubbing, which can double hose life
- Store hoses right – Keep spare hoses in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight and away from heavy items that could crush them. Poor storage weakens the hose cover and shortens its lifespan.

What’s dash size and why does it matter?
It’s the code that tells us the inner diameter of the hose in 1/16-inch increments. For example, ‑8 = 1/2″ ID. It keeps the flow right and stops the hose from blowing out under pressure.
What if the hose markings are gone?
Measure ID and OD with calipers, take clear photos, and contact GT HOSES. Our team will match it and dispatch fast—from our hydraulic hose shop in Emerald or mobile units.
What happens if I install the wrong size?
Too small: risk of pressure drop, flow loss, and overheating
Too large: poor fit, leaks, and coupling failure
